Last year I reviewed a few pieces of Tommie Copper apparel here on the blog, and ever since it continues to be in the top 10 viewed posts nearly every day, which tells me that there are a lot of people out there interested in compression clothing, and the power of copper for pain relief.
Since then, I’ve had the chance to use my gear more, and recently received a few more pieces to try out.

I received a pair of black performance compression leggings (these are the same leggings I reviewed in pink previously, I also have a pair in the blackberry colour), black performance compression fold over shorts, the pink performance active fit traceback tank and a pair of safety yellow performance compression athletic calf socks.
I will begin my review by stating that there is no way for me to positively know that the copper within any of these garments has made any difference in my levels of pain (remember I have fibromyalgia, and therefore suffer from chronic, widespread pain on a daily basis), or if it is simply the compression of the items. So my review will not prove or disprove that these, or any other clothing claiming health benefits will work for you. I can only tell you what my experiences have been.
Last week I took to the treadmill for my very first run of 2015 (!!) and wore the tank and shorts for the first time. I find it difficult to find shorts that don’t ride up while running and these stayed comfortably in place. I especially like that they have a fold over top so on those days you’re feeling a bit bigger in the middle you can keep it unfolded for a little extra support 😉

The tank top was ah-maze-ing! I also find that tank tops like to ride up while I run, and often find myself pulling them back down where they belong but this one stayed right where it belonged! Not only that but it is super light weight and comfortable. This tank is going to be really amazing in the summer months when I’m teaching aqua fitness (a.k.a. sweating to death on deck while happy people cool off in the pool).
After my run I took to the mat for a little yoga action and found that the shorts again stayed in place better than most I’ve tried.

Then this past Friday I was back on the treadmill for round 2 of running in 2015! Despite being active, I always find my calves get a little extra angry the first few times I get back to running after my 3-4 month running break from Oct/Nov to Feb/Mar. To try and combat that I decided to give my compression socks a trial run. I normally wear ProCompression socks so I’ve been interested to see how these compared. I did notice that my Tommie Copper compressions socks don’t come quite as high up on the leg as my ProCompression, but perhaps that is due to the size I got. I do like my socks to come up a bit higher but the sock itself is soon much more comfortable.

I often find I can’t wear ProCompression socks all that long for recovery because they seem to squeeze my toes together so much and aren’t comfortable for me through the foot. These socks are compression in the mid-foot and calf, but give your toes lots of wiggle room which I love! I also found the sock part itself more comfy in general. If these were as high as my ProCompression socks I would pick these hands down, but as it stands they are pretty much on even ground. I wouldn’t be surprised to see me add another pair or two of the Tommie Copper socks to my collection strictly for recovery though as they are so much more comfortable.
As for my leggings, well since I already own two pairs of them I already knew I liked them. 😉 But all the same I took my black leggings for a twisty stroll on the mat last night to see how they held up, and as expected they were comfortable, and allowed me to “Rock The Baby” without fear of sheer leggings or pinching waistbands.

Tommie Copper clothing is a brand I’m happy to come back to time and time again. I’ve mentioned countless times here that compression clothing/supports have always provided me relief from pain, and there for comprise a large part of my pain management. This may or may not hold true for you, depending on what your situation may be. The copper and compression factor aside, I can absolutely tell you that every item of Tommie Copper clothing I have received (to date I own 7 pieces from their collection) have all been made extremely well and are of a high quality. The leggings are not see through, fit true to size and are extremely comfortable. The compression gear provides a comfortable amount of compression without feeling restricting and hot.
Disclosure: I was provided with most of these items free of charge from Tommie Copper, but I was not required to write a positive review (or any receive at all). All of the opinions expressed here are 100% my own, they are not for sale.
My FAVORITE gear comes from Tommie Copper. I think I need one of those tanks!
You probably do, it’s pretty fantastic 😉
