Yesterday. after months of writing and talking about her, I finally had the chance to meet Ellie Black!
Ellie’s performances at the 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games in Artistic Gymnastics were nothing if not impressive. Winning three gold medals, one silver, and one bronze over a four-day period made her the most decorated Canadian athlete at the games.
they are even more impressive in-person than on camera!
Seeing first-hand how crazy the competition can be with different athletes competing on different apparatus all at the same time, I was interested to find out how someone who seemingly thrives under the pressure stays focused. Check out my full interview with her – including some hard-hitting questions like, “What’s your favorite animal?” 😉
Thanks so much to Ellie for taking the time to talk with me before her training, it was an honor to meet her and get the chance to watch such an impressive athlete practice in her home gym.

Hi Suzi: Wow!!! what an honor to meet Ellie. You must have been thrilled to meet her. She looks like a sweet young girl. Those medals look some heavy. She has really done well considering her age. Picture how good she will be when she reaches 20.
Thanks for sharing. See you Tuesday. Joan
She is super sweet! I asked her if she had weighed her medals to see how much they weighed, she hasn’t but figures they are around 1/2 a pound a piece. That’s a lot of be hanging around your neck! 😀
