Heeeeeey! I gotta say, since the sun has decided to come out a few times this week I’m feeling a whole lot less cranky. Man this has been a rough winter for us in Nova Scotia. I’ve droned on and on about it here and in my email newsletters (sorry!) but all of Nova Scotia has been dealing with a serious case of the winter blahs for way too long. These warmer temperatures (and resulting snow melt) have really started to lift my spirits!
It’s also no secret that I’ve been dealing with a little burn-out (largely thanks to the never ending winter, the reoccurrence of health issues – including IBS, and some other “unpleasantness” like this ) and I’m happy to say I am starting to feel like I’m getting passed that as well.
A couple of the things that have really helped me with my burnout were:
Talking About It
As soon as I opened up to you all about it I got some many comments and messages it really helped make me feel better. And it’s so nice to know that I wasn’t in it alone, and to help others who also were dealing with burnout realize that they aren’t alone either. Talking about these things always makes them better.
Turning Off Phone Notifications
My phone was absolutely adding to my burn-out. Even on quiet days I would get multiple notifications every hour and having a phone constantly beeping at you makes a people a little edgy, and a workaholic. I also hate having those little red circles telling me there is a notification I haven’t seen (a little OCD issue there). So I turned off all the notifications for my phone except phone calls and text messages. Everything else I have to go to the app and open it to see if there is something new there. It might not seem like a big deal, but man, immediately I felt so much better. SO if you’ve noticed I’m a little slower replying to emails and social media mentions, that’s why. And it’s wonderful
THE SUN
Truthfully, I think this has been the #1 thing. I felt so much better almost immediately when the temperature started warming up, I was able to run outside and could hear the birds happily chirping. Never underestimate the power of the sun and sunlight my friends.
Glad you are feeling better Suzi!! That sun sure is making me feel happy!
Great video!!
