You may remember as a part of Heart Month, I partnered with Staples to #GetOutAndGo and promoted getting outside of your comfort zone to move your body and get your heart pumping.
As part of the campaign I made two goals. One was to practise yoga everyday during the month of February, and the second was to get outside and move 8 times during the month.
Now I’m back to check in and let you know how I made out with my goals!
Let’s start with the getting outside one first. Well, I did get out and moved at least 8 times in the month of February, but unfortunately (for me) most of those times involved shovelling my car out of the snow after storms. I live in Nova Scotia where February could have been classified largely as one big snowstorm. Seriously, we had just over 300cm of snow last month. How depressing. I did manage to get out a couple times for a walk, but they were drastically outnumbered by the shovelling expeditions. 😉
The first was on my lunch break when working at a wellness fair at a local elementary,

and the second (and a few undocumented) walks to my mailbox which is a 1km round trip route.

I’ve also been having loads of fun wearing my UP24 by Jawbone. I have a FitBit but I like the Jawbone iPhone app better than the FitBit one. I’m still wearing my FitBit though, I didn’t want to give up all my steps and fall any further on my leaderboard (yes, I’m a super dork). I’m trying to convince myself to use one, one week, and the other the next but haven’t got there yet. I don’t even look at them everyday, I just like gadgets. 😉
Anyway…
The bigger of the two goals for me was the daily yoga one. I’ll be honest, there were probably 4 or 5 days I missed practising, but on the whole, I think I did pretty good. I tried many new to me poses last month, and worked on some others that I typically avoid so I’m pleased with my progress. I put together this collage to show you some of my yoga antics from last month.

Not all of these poses were new to me, but many were, and I’m excited to continue my journey this month, and hopefully all year long!
In looking back, I think I’d give myself a B+ on this challenge. I certainly could have done better, but I think I made some great progress and I’m excited about continuing to work on my wheel (sadly I haven’t improved too much there yet. My upper body is still super tight!).
My big goal for now will be trying to keep up my yoga with at least 10 minutes/day, this will be super important since I’m getting into half marathon training. I should be able to do my 10 minutes each night while I run my bath water – no problem. Right? We’ll see.
What’s your next goal to #GetOutAndGo?

I think you did amazing! Let’s just take February – alone – into consideration. It was a VERY trying month.
Seriously. You did great!
Also, I love your casual approach to moving and living well. 10 minutes of yoga? Who can’t do that? You take the pressure off and I appreciate that so much.
Nice post!
Very trying almost seems like an understatement!
10 minutes might seem like not much time, but you do it 6 times/week and BOOM an extra hour of practice! I’m all about getting people to move when and where they can, and you’re right – we can all manage 10 minutes!
