Welcome to July’s #BookChat! This month I’m talking to Michelle Collins from thiswholelife.ca about what she’s been reading lately, her love of the Outlander series by Diana Galbadon and we even get into the TV series on STARZ.
Micehlle is a HUGE Outlander fan so it was fun to dive in and talk about what it is about this series that she loves so much and get her spin on how she feels about the TV series.

I had such a great time chatting with you! Let’s do it again soon.
Yes! It was super fun talking to you too!
I can totally relate to being “ruined” by the Outlander series of books!!! I started reading them in the last century; as my millennium project was a trip to Scotland! including a visit to a standing stones circle ( in the Hebrides) Alas, no Jamie to be found! i also found The Drums of Autumn the hardest to get thru, because of all the American history embedded in it with not a lot of story to actually tie it together Also I was disappointed that although Diana had come to Nova Scotia to research, nothing of the huge Scottish migration to NS ever showed up in a book to honour this fact, including the keeping alive of the Gaelic language. I do Love Gabaldron despite this and thoroughly enjoyed a fabulous evening with her at Dal several years ago Despite hints and tidbits, it is SOOOO hard to wait for the next book. I just keep rereading the past ones ! A long time Fan
I think my problem was the same, too much American history without an adequate story to help me push through. And you are right, I hadn’t thought too much about the fact that Nova Scotia should have had a bigger part!
