Kayaking On The Annapolis River

I’m a bit slow getting this posted, but hopefully there is still time for a few people to jump on this opportunity before summer is officially over!

The Town of Middleton is offering free kayak and canoe rentals again this year! This is not a sponsored post and I have no affiliation with the Town of Middleton, I just wanted to share this awesome opportunity for some free summer fun! You can get all the details on how to book your kayak or canoe in the poster below (from their Facebook page).

I don’t know how late into the season they continue, so if you are interested in heading out before they “close up shop” for the year I’d call to book your rental now!

We went a few weeks ago on August 12th and had a really fun time. We had booked a few weeks in advance so when the day came and the forecast was calling for mega rain, we were a little disheartened. But we decided to head down anyway and kept our fingers crossed that we wouldn’t get drenched.

As it happens, it rained a little bit while we were out, but it was otherwise a pretty great day for kayaking.

It was my very first time in a kayak so I was a little bit nervous to get in it without dumping it over, haha, but it was a breeze!

And the scenery was pretty awesome.

It’s really cool how you can be so close to “civilization” and still feel completely secluded. In some areas the river is right along back yards but I don’t think we saw anyone else in the 90 minutes we were out paddling.

Overall I think I still prefer paddle boarding, but I gotta admit, having a proper seat with a back rest was pretty nice! And I certainly wouldn’t have wanted to deal with some of the currents we fought in the river on a paddle board!

This might have been my first time in a kayak, but I highly doubt it will be my last. And for reals, if you live in the area, go book your free kayak (or canoe) rental now!

And because I no longer have to worry about getting my camera wet (the Fuji FinePix XP120 has quickly become my adventure BFF), I can get not only photos to remember our trip, but also HD video! And on that note, I present you with my kayaking vlog! 🙂

How lovely! Unfortunately I’m based in the UK so can’t take advantage of the offer but will look them up if I find myself in Middleton one summer!
