Add Some Healthy Fizz To Your Holidays With Bonne O + Giveway

Most of the time I’m pretty content with plain old water. I enjoy pop and carbonated drinks, but I rarely have the urge to buy one, and more so than anything, if I’m going to consume a bunch of sugar I’d rather it be candy or cake rather than my drink! Today I’m really excited to be telling you about the Bonne O Beverage Carbonation System – one that I’ve only recently learned about and am already pretty smitten with!

A couple years ago I got a Soda Stream, and I was pretty in love with it. I liked being able to make fizzy drinks at home at my convenience, but when I discovered that many of their syrups contain sucralose I was so glum. They do have a few that are flavoured naturally with fruits but that majority (calorie free or not) have sucralose which is a deal breaker for me. However, I kept enjoying my Soda Stream with the fruit sweetened syrups and my own concoctions until the CO2 tank was empty. I didn’t intentionally stop using it after the first tank emptied, but I never thought to take the empty tank with me when I was going shopping to exchange it for a full one. I’d always think of it when I was at the store and saw the display, but by then I couldn’t do anything about it, so there it’s sat on my island, being un-used for at least a year.

So when I was contacted by Bonne O about reviewing their carbonating system I was a bit hesitant at first. I mean here I already had one system that I was no longer using, why would I want another? But I took a few minutes to learn more about Bonne O and what makes their system different and I was sold. For starters, the Bonne O doesn’t use a CO2 tank. Instead it uses a carbonator to well – carbonate and they do a wonderful job of explaining what is in the pucks and how the system works on their website so if you’d like to learn more about the process please check out their site.

And then I learned that not only could I make my own flavour infused water easily, I could even make fruit infused sparkling water! If you are familiar with a soda stream, you’ll know that you have to carbonate your water first, then add your flavoured afterwards. With the Bonne O you add your flavour at the same time as you are carbonating, which means if you add fruit during the process, the fruit flavours actually infuse into the water.

Now that I’ve talked about it a bit, I want to show you how easy it is to use. To start you fill the flavour chamber with either water or your flavour add-in of choice. So far my favourite has been using strongly brewed iced teas from my vast collection 😉 to make delicious fruity flavoured, calorie free drinks.

Then you add one carbonator tablet to the other chamber

and screw the top on. Next you fill your bottle to the “fill” line with cold water. The colder the water the better as cold water carbonates better than room temperature water. Then you place the bottle in the bottle holder and turn the top cap to secure it in place. Once in place the light will come on at the front of the machine.

You press that button and let the Bonne O go to work! It takes 3-4 minutes for it to fully carbonate, but once you’ve pressed the button it takes care of the rest so you can go about your day unless you want to stand there and watch the magic like I do!

Once it is finished it sounds two quick chimes to let you know it’s done, at which point you turn the top cap to release the bottle and pop it in the fridge for later or open it up and enjoy!

I can’t think of a better time of year to introduce the Bonne O into your home, especially if you entertain a lot. Sugary sodas, cocktails and juices are often part of these gathering but can really upset your blood sugar and while fine in moderation, can easily get out of hand. Not only is using the Bonne O a healthier alternative, it gives your guests the opportunity to create their very own signature drink and you could even set it up as it’s own fun station (just make sure everyone knows how to use it properly).

I can’t imagine anyone complaining about delicious lime and pomegranate infused sparking water served in a martini glass,

but if you or your guest really are more of the spirited type, don’t fear, within your Bonne O kit you get an entire book of 100 Sparkling Creations of both the spirited and non-spirited variety. And I’ve heard that makes a perfectly sparkled G&T.

Where to Buy

The Bonne O system and accessories (extra bottles, carbonators etc.) can be purchased from Hudson’s Bay, Canadian Tire, Home Outfitters, Best Buy, Home Depot (online), London Drugs, Center du Rasior and Water Depot. In the US they are available at Bed Bath & Beyond, and can be purchased directly from their website.

Right now during their Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale, you can pick up the Bonne O Sparkling Beverage System at Canadian Tire for only $99.99. I didn’t check the other retailers, but if you are serious about picking one up it might be worth taking a look at your local stores to see if they have it on sale too!

Giveaway

The holidays are just around the corner, and I’m here to make one of my reader’s holidays just a bit more sparkly as Bonne O has sent me a unit to give away! Because I physically have the unit, this giveaway is only open to those who can pick it up from me locally in Nova Scotia (I’m in the Annapolis Valley) to make sure you have it in lots of time for your holiday gatherings.
