It’s a rare Sunday post because I have some awesome things to share today! First of all, for any of you who follow me on Instagram or Facebook you’ll have seen my 12 Days of Smoothies posts these past two weeks. Well, it’s now the 13th so my 12 days are up, but the excitement is only just beginning for you!
(hover your mouse over the image above to pin for later)
For starters, I’ve complied all of my 12 smoothie recipes into a downloadable PDF that you can save to your computer/phone/iPad/whatever by clicking here. I hope you enjoy any that you make, the eggnog, gingerbread cookie and strawberry macaroon smoothies were my favourites! The best thing about smoothies is that they are really quick to make, so you really have no reason to not eat well even during the busy holidays. Throw some ingredients in a blender and get going! I really love Vega One because not only is it a protein powder, it also has 6 servings of greens, 50% of your daily requirement of vitamins and minerals, Omega-3 Fatty Acids, Antioxidants, Probiotics, and 7g of fibre/serving. Those are some pretty great stats for something you can drink in the car!

It was so much fun coming up with a new festive smoothie recipe each day for the past 12 days, and I hope if you try them you enjoy them!
This has been one of the most fun projects I’ve worked on in a while – I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy creating them!
Disclosure: This post has been sponsored by Vega One. I reached out to them to see if they would work with me on this project because I honestly use their products every single day. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Tip: moderation…it’s hard to not try everything on the table but moderation is key
Can’t resust: anything that is peanut butter and chocolate…my favourite!
To keep eating healthy over the holidays I limit how many treats I bring into the house, and as like the rest of the year potato chips call my name, so I have limit the amount I invite into my home.
Tip for eating healthy is to have water with your meals when you can. I can get A TON of calories just from stuff I drink so if I at least have water when I can, I can save those treats for things I really appreciate. My weakness is definitely chocolate… anything. My mom made some chocolate nut brittle and chocolate covered pretzels last year that I kinda devoured.
I’m really interested in Vega One after your posts so crossing my fingers for this giveaway! Either way I will have to pick some up to try.
Tip for trying to eat healthier when there are so many delicious treats around is making the effort to do the things you can like drinking your water and using products like Vega so you can continue to get in greens, fibre and protein! My weakness is sweet breads and butter tarts!
Over the holidays this year im going to follow your advice /tip and ensure when i have a treat its a real treat that i dont get year round! Ie candy cane ice cream or log cakes!!!! My biggest weakness would be those damn log cakes or my moms peanutbutter marshmellow chocolate fudge … It doesnt tast super sweet making it deadly for over consuming!!!
I find hot cocoa the hardest to resist! It’s all about moderation – have a bite of something perhaps, but not the whole thing!
use moderation & this year no egg nog in the house. hard to resist any thing with chocolate & chewy
Out of sight, out of mind. I try to reduce the amount of “bad stuff.” that I have in my house. Also I try to add an extra run/strength session in during the week. It helps me stay focus on staying healthy.
I can’t resist the chocolate especially the chocolate squares that everyone seems to bring into the office. I have to use extreme will power.
It’s important for me to eat healthy everyday, but damn you chocolate, you are my Everest!
I try to fill up my plate with veggies and protein, so I don’t have too much room for my weakness; any combination of potatoes and cheese. I won’t usually overdo it on sugar, but could probably eat gratin until I burst 😉
For me, I have a hard time with the small candies – like Quality Street that are super on sale right now. They are so easy to eat!
Number one tip – enjoy the unhealthy foods and remain active. For me it’s okay to have some treats over the holidays but I need to balance that with healthy choices first and being active.
My tip for eating healthy over the holidays is to have lots of snacks (like those sweet little clementines, nuts and yogurt) readily available so when I am feeling snackish, I can grab one of those instead of the chips and chocolate. Making sure I don’t get too busy to eat while on an all day shopping trip so all I want to do is inhale everything in site when I get home is important too ????. Peanut butter balls and cheesecake are definitely my downfalls over Christmas. But I certainly plan to give them a taste test ?.
Stick to water and avoid alcoholic beverages. The hard thing for me to resist is cookies.
I really love chocolate ; so I try to ‘keep it healthy’ by adding clementines or an apple with peanut butter. I also try to stay active ; running with the dog, workout videos before work, ect.
My tip for eating healthy over the holidays is definitely moderation, but also I like to think about my favourite seasonal treats that I only get at Christmas. I usually give in to eating some of those, but as for the other treats that are available anytime, I stay away from them.
My weakness is definitely baklava, I only make it once a year.
Take very small portions of everything and eat slowly. My favourite treat is Christmas fruitcake
I eat before I go to holiday gatherings.I can’t control myself around sugar cookies.
My number one tip to stay healthy over the holidays is…tea! I find that if I want to snack, I just drink some fruity tea with stevia. And the one thing that I cannot resist is truffles!! They are soooo good!
My treat I struggle with is Pepermont bark. My number one way to get through the holidays has been meal planning.
Tip for eating healthy over the holidays: eat a healthy meal before going to any holiday parties that way you are not munching on all the snacks because you will already be full from your meal.
Treat that I have a probkem resisting: are my nan’s macaroon recipe…and when i have to make 4 batches for gifts’ it gets difficult.
I think getting enough water in, is the most important tip anytime of the year.
My weakness…anything peanut butter or chocolate!
My tip is to have a light snack before going to a holiday party so you don’t eat too much!
I eat healthy over the holidays by making healthy meals ahead of time and freezing them so they are convenient. But I do find it tough to resist Christmas cookies!
Snowshoeing every day helps to digest the christmas party
My tip is to always make sure you’re drinking enough water and I can’t resist munching on anything involving peppermint and chocolate.
My tip is allow yourself to enjoy holiday treats but only have enough for a taste. I have a difficult time resisting Sees Candies!
My tip is to stick with at home workouts when there’s not enough time for the gym and I love pecan pie! 🙂
I try to snack on some fruit and veggies before we head out. I also offer healthy options when we have company over. But desserts and chocolate are my weakness. Everything in moderation!
I always have a bowl of cereal before I go to a party – but that doesn’t work around Nanaimo bars!
My mom’s homemade rolls and my aunt’s peanut butter balls and my other aunts cherry bars…all of it so yummy and hard to resist. Over the holidays I try to drink as much water as possible to stay full
I find the easiest way is to plan, i carry healthy snack options with me and also plan out a healthy menu. i have a hard time with sweet treats so i try making a small batch of healthy desserts so i wont get carried away and also i feel better my kid is not eating crap. 🙂
I’m not really into all the holiday desserts, but shrimp cocktail and wine are my weaknesses at holiday parties. Have you seen the sugar content in cocktail sauce?! Insane. But I can’t help myself haha it’s so good! Luckily it really only shows up a few times a year.
My tip is to make sure you eat some healthy snacks or even a full meal before you go to parties/gatherings so you are not hungry around all the treats. I find fudge so hard to resist!
My tip is to hydrate and fill up on water! I can’t avoid CHIPS!!!
My number one tip is to drink a lot of water! It helps fill you up and detoxes your body after overeating. I find it most difficult to use moderation around all of the holiday cookies!
Number one reason to eat healthy during the holidays is so you don’t feel so off track that’s it’s hard to get back on track on January. My hardest treat to stay away from during the holidays is chocolate
One thing that’s always worked for me around treats is that I don’t allow myself to have any treats unless I’ve eaten a meal recently. I have hypoglycemia so I have to stick to this rule and it definitely helps reduce treat consumption. I have a hard time resisting the sausage/cheese/cracker combo.
My best tip for being healthy over the holidays is keeping well-hydrated! I like to carry a water with me at all times and before I start to dig into any food I drink water to make sure I don’t replace my thirst with the desserts!
Christmas is hardest for me so I have to remember my goals and plan which days I will eat sweets and remind myself how hard i work to get where I am.
I make my own, healthified version of whatever goodies I want. Last year I was eating low carb so I made a low carb cheesecake for myself so I didn’t feel like I was left out of eating “the good stuff”. and it prevented me from taking a mini vacation from my diet.
I try to fill up on healthiest foods first before I head to the most irresistible stuff! I love sausage balls and Oreo balls!! ???
