September Shape-Up Time!

This past winter Atlantic Canada was buried in snow. Like legit buried. And I think everyone in Nova Scotia gained 10 pounds from consumption of Storm Chips and other storm related fare. And I don’t know about you, but the story I keep hearing over and over from clients and participants is – most of us haven’t lost the weight.

And now it’s September, we are on the cusp of the fall/winter holiday season and have pumpkin spiced everything and whipped cream topped deliciousness awaiting us at every turn.

It’s time to stop the madness before it starts.

It’s time for a DietBet and I’m hosting one that runs from Sept 21-Oct 18th. Yes Canadians, that means Thanksgiving falls within the DietBet. I’ve hosted a number of DietBets over the years, but if you are new to the DietBet world here is the lowdown:

  • You bet a certain amount of money (in this case $25) that you will lose 4% of your body weight in 4 weeks
  • Once you place your bet you will will have to weight yourself (and take photos) of you on your scale, and one of your scale and submit it to DietBet. Don’t worry, your photo will only be seen by you and the person at their head office who reviews weigh-in photos for approval.
  • Then you have 4 weeks to lose weight. You’d be surprised how much more dedicated you are when you have $25 on the line.
  • At the end of 4 weeks if you’ve lost 4% of your body weight you’ll have to submit two more photos, then all the “winners” split the money in the pot!

So if you lose your 4% and so does everyone else, you will still get your money back. And chances are everyone won’t lose all their weight so you’ll win extra cash!

I know what you’re thinking. You’ve just calculated how much 4% of your weight is, and it seems impossible for you to lose that much in 4 weeks. I’m hear to tell you, you can. I’m usually not one to encourage weight loss, I’m more interested in fat loss but I think for lots of people a kickstart like this is exactly what they need to help them get on track (or back on track), so I’m all for a 4 week weight focused challenge.
