Mix 41

What’s that? Mega Mix 41 is here? Lemme just take a #selfie… ( <– quite possibly the most annoying song released on a Zumba CD in recent years)

selfie

I think I’m being punished for loving Mega Mix 40 so much, because I’m not lovin’ this one at all. But as my mother told me to say, different people like different things so I’m sure others are loving it! Let’s take a look at the songs shall we?

Shake It (Warm-up) – Luke Skies feat. Max’ C

#Selfie (Electropop) – The Chainsmokers

Te Veo Bailando (Merengue Urbano) – Andy Quintero feat. Robert Taylor

Ay Cosita Linda (Salsa)

La Pregunta (Reggaeton) – J Alvarez

United for the Cup (Latin Pop) – Zumba Fitness Original

Bambalam (Dancehall) – General Degree

Sexy Ladies (Urban Pop) – Dahrio Wonder

Me Vuelvo Loco (Tropipop) – Periko y Jessie Leon

La Morocha (Tango Electronico)

I could find a bunch of songs for the tango on YouTube, but none seemed to be this version.

This my first mega mix zin 50 was my first newbie instructor (one month) but I’m so in love with zin 50 I was excited to get mm41 I just got it an hr ago in the mail and I already dislike it. I’ve listen to it twice and I’m seriously not excited 🙁

Sadly mega mixes are often duds (in my opinion anyway). Just think, only 4 weeks until ZIN 51 😉

This is my first megamix as well and I was not impressed. I liked the salsa song and the dancehall song-a lot! And the electro tango was ok. I too loved most of the songs on ZIN 50!

All I can think of listening to #Selfie?

“OH MY GOD, Becky, LOOK at her butt, it is SO BIG. She looks like one of those rap guys’ girlfriends…”

Yes! But I kinda still like that song… 90’s FTW!

Haha, I just got MM41 and as soon as the second song (Selfie) came on, I googled to see if anyone hated it as much as me. Super annoying! I love Zumba but I’m a little peeved that they included that song. But, like you said, different people like different things!

    Zumba on 🙂

Exactly! Though it seems there are more haters than likers in this case!

I have to agree that most megamixes are usually a bust. Most of the pop songs are either so old that everyone has already done them in their classes or an awful version of a song that doesn’t hold a candle to the original. When the #selfie song came out a few months ago every Zumba instructor in my area added it to their classes. I like getting new music that I might not have heard otherwise. Not tired music that is already played out.

Agreed. I guess in this case I should be glad I live in the sticks and was spared #selfie until now!

Glad I’m not the only one who was so put off by #Selfie on MM41. Worst song ever…I tweeted out that I’m pretty sure I’d rather listen to “Friday” by Rebecca Black repeatedly than ever hear #Selfie again.

Sexy Ladies and the tango track were my favorites. But I’ve been licensed for almost a year and am now just starting to prep to teach so I don’t know when I’ll get around to including those in my playlist. Have some other ideas first!

Want to know something shocking? I’ve yet to listen to “Friday” – ever. Everybody went on about how annoying it was so I just ignored it completely! And except for a snippet (one line) that it in a warm-up I used for a master class I’ve never listened to “What Does The Fox Say?” either! I guess I’m blessed for living in the sticks where our radio station just plays the same 20 songs over and over and never gets odd ball songs like that.

I’ve been teaching for a long time, and there are still songs on the first CD’s/DVDs that I like any haven’t gone back to, to choreograph. So much music – so little time!

Hi! I have checked out your site a few times. I am dropping a line because I absolutely can’t stand Selfie! Lol. I haven’t heard the entire song, but after receiving MM 41, I listened to the CD in my car. I skipped it after hearing a few lines. Such an annoying song! I haven’t heard (or even heard of) the other songs you mentioned in the recent comments. I prefer to listen to Jazz when I’m not listening to our Zumba CDs 🙂 . ‘Hope you safely enjoy your Memorial Day weekend.

    Sincerely,
    Tasheela

Haha, if you haven’t heard of those other songs I wouldn’t go looking them up 😉 I hope you’re enjoying Memorial Day 🙂

I forgot to mention that I have enjoyed peeking onto your site from time to time. With four little ones, it’s hard to find time to hop on the blogs 🙂 .

    Thanks for taking the time,
    Tasheela

What were they thinking???? AHHHHH. Selfie. But can I say that the Toning routine for Te Veo Bailando has become a favorite in my class already and I love Bambalam and Sexy Ladies. As with all CD’s that you buy, there’s always a dud. It just is usually one of the last songs, not one that makes you want to rip your CD out on song #2.

Don’t kill be but I actually like the song selfie as far as the beat goes. However, I will not use it in my class as I do not like the negativity of the girls being catty, etc. I feel that it’s the Total opposite of what Zumba should be, lifting each other up and accepting everyone. 😉

I’m sure there are lots of people who like it! The beat is catchy I just can’t handle the snobtastic lyrics
