Sears Pure NRG Athletics

Happy Monday y’all! 🙂 Today I’m going to be reviewing the new athletics line from Sears Canada – Pure NRG!

And before I get started, can we take a moment to talk about how cute the striped outfit on the right is the that picture?  It reminds me of my favourite outfit from when I was in grade 2, which my family called my “Hamburgler outfit”.  I wants it.

Anyway… a few weeks ago Sears Canada contacted me to see if I was interested in reviewing their new athletic line Pure NRG, which is an exclusive line of performance clothing with features including:

  • 4-way stretch fabric
  • Flatlock seams
  • Cool effect fabric

Another great selling feature for me (and I expect all fitness enthusiasts) is that the entire line has been designed to provide high quality at an accessible price point with all items costing less than $50.00!

Now, as a fitness professional, I look at my wardrobe as an investment.  Fitness clothes to me, are like a business suit to a business man, so while I don’t mind spending more for quality items, I also love a deal, and if I can get quality for a lower price – I’m there.

They were kind enough to send me a number of pieces from the collection which I received and began wearing to classes a little over a week ago.

Included in my package were the studio tank in deep aruba blue, the karma crop in grey, the motion crop in black, the stride pant in black, a grey t-shirt and the Jersey Knit Mock-Neck Jacket.

At first glance my favourite item was the studio tank.  Possibly because it was bright blue 😉 but also because of the quality.  It has a built in bra (with removable cups) and considering it’s $29.97 price tag felt a lot like some much more expensive tanks I’ve owned.  If I were to wear it to teach Zumba or for running I would wear another bra underneath (a built in bra is rarely sufficient for me during high impact activities), but for teaching strength training classes or yoga it’s perfect.  I wore it on Saturday morning to teach Zumba Toning and really enjoyed it.  I’ve got a long torso and was really pleased that this tank hits me a a good place so I don’t feel like I’m showing everyone my mid drift throughout class.

Don’t mind my cranky face.  That’s the face of someone who loves her tank top, but is getting really sick and tired of her chest cold.

My next favourite item is the stride pant.  It is from the “performance” section of the line and they are fairly lightweight feeling, but are super comfy and two things I particularly liked are that the sit right at my waist (just below my belly button) and that the seaming on the legs comes in and runs down the side/front of the legs instead of the traditional side seam.  I find that type of seaming is more flattering and I am really happy that more and more companies are starting to go that route!  I tried to take a picture of what I mean with the seaming but I don’t think it translated onto the picture well so you’ll just have to take my word for it.

I actually wore a full Pure NRG ensemble last monday to teach Barre and Yoga Relax – the stride pant, along with my grey T-shirt and the mock-neck jacket.

I was trying to look more lively here.  Also ignore my unmade bed.  There was a cat asleep in it 😉 Believe it or not, I didn’t actually have a plain black zip up jacket so this was a more than welcome addition to my wardrobe.  I wore it to classes the first night I got it!  It’s a light jacket so it great for those times when it’s too warm for a sweater, but you still want a cover-up of some sort.

The grey t-shirt (which I’m wearing in the photo above), the karma crops, and the motion crops are also great inexpensive pieces in the collection.  I’ve been wearing them to teach my seniors fitness classes, and while doing my Physique 57 workouts:

and doing a Physique 57 workout last week in the motion crop.

Over all I am really impressed with the Pure NRG line from Sears Canada, and in looking at the website see some other pieces I would really like, to add to my collection like the studio jacket, the performance legging (these look great for running!), and of course my grown up Hamburgler pants 😉 the fashion pant.

I’d love to hear what you think of the new line from Sears Canada.  What it your favourite piece in the collection?

Disclosure:  Sears Canada provided me with six pieces from the new Pure NRG line in exchange for my honest review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I would wear ALL of these to my yoga classes (and maybe for a morning jog, if I just “wasn’t feeling it” that day. Cute clothes definitely help break a workout slump!
Do you know if this is going to be carried in the US?

You are right! Cute workout clothes will def. help bust through a slump! I just checked the US site and don’t see the new line there but I would imagine it will launch there too!
