How To Make The BEST Microwave Popcorn

If you’re like me you like popcorn but don’t have room to keep a popcorn popper in your kitchen.  So, you probably buy microwave popcorn at the store so you can pop a bag whenever you want, right? Well let’s forget about all the crap that is in microwave popcorn (in fact I can’t eat it or movie popcorn because all the additives make me sick), and focus just on taste. Because I’ve found the recipe for making the perfect microwave popcorn.

Which means my friends, you never need to buy microwave popcorn again.

Instead, buy a bag of popcorn kernels and a $1 bag of paper lunch bags.

Hover your cursor in the top left of this photo to “pin” the photo to your Pinterest account for easy finding later!

It really is that simple.

You put about 4 Tbsp of kernels in the bottom of the paper bag.

Fold over the top of the bag once or twice.

Throw it in the microwave and microwave like you would any other bag of popcorn (I use the popcorn button and then listen for the pops to slow to 1 every 2 or 3 seconds then stop the microwave).

Open your bag and pour your popcorn in a bowl.

If you want to add some butter melt a little in the microwave and add to the bowl.

Then if you want to make it that much more fantastic you can use a micro plane to grate some parmigiano reggiano on top, give the bowl a little shake and there you have it – the best microwave popcorn you’ll ever eat and it is better for you too since you don’t have any of those extra chemicals and additives.

And for you budget-wise peeps, this is by far less expensive.  You can buy a bag of kernels and the paper bags for about the same cost as one box of microwave popcorn and this will make you way more bowls of popcorn!

I’ve seen this popcorn method on Pinterest but I was a little scared to try it to be honest… Now that I see some more success I’ll have to give it a go! My favourite thing to do is add a few chocolate chips and pop it back in the microwave for another 10 seconds 🙂

It can be a little scary, but I have better success with it than I ever had with purchased microwave popcorn (I always burn it!) I’ve never tried chocolate chips in my popcorn…i’m going to have to give it a whirl!

Keep popcorn kernels in your freezer – keeps them moist so they all pop.

That’s an amazing tip!!! I never would have thought to do that even though I keep nuts and other seeds in the fridge/freezer. Genius!!!
