There Ain’t No Part Like A PC Party…

‘Cuz a PC party is full of food!

In case you now have “S Club Party” playing in your head and need to listen to the rocking tune here you go 😉

This past Tuesday myself along with a number of other Nova Scotian bloggers were invited to the President’s Choice Holiday party. I went to the party last year and was really excited to go back, not only for the obvious (food) but to hang out with my blogger buddies! Luckily for me Tuesday was an amazing day for travelling (since i had to drive from the valley) and I made it to and from the party without any weather issues.

Yup, I told you they have food at PC parties! And to think I nearly made the mistake of eating something before I went. Thank goodness I didn’t!

I didn’t try all of the appetizers, but everything I tried I liked, and that includes the PC Lobster Mac and Cheese Bites – remember, I’m afraid of everything lobster so the fact that I even tried it was amazing. But of course if you put cheese with something, the likeliness of me trying it goes up exponentially.

brie

This Pear and Basil Marinated Brie was really yummy, but again – add cheese and Suzi will probably be a fan 😉

I don’t seem to have many pictures of my appetizers, perhaps that’s because I was too darn eager to eat them to take pretty pictures! I did take a shot of my lovely drink. This was the Blueberry Pomegranate Sparkling Water with Fruity Ice Cubes, which we renamed the “Pretty Fruity Drink” as it was a lot shorter 🙂

Another (unpictured) favourite of mine was the Bollywood Bits and Bites. I’m definitely going to have to make some of them soon. I love the sweet and spicy combo!

For our main meal we had a full-on turkey feast!

Chef Richard Julian was on hand to whip up and serve us his Maple Syrup Brined Roast Turkey with Apricot & Amaretto Smashed Mini Sweet Potato, Walnut, Chorizo & Cranberry Stuffing, Wild Mushroom & Sage Pan Gravy and his Crazy Clucking Turkey Leftovers Casserole.

Holy moly. So yummy. And I’m not generally a big turkey person but this was delicious! That stuffing……and gravy….yum, yum, yum. You can find the recipes online in the Discoveries section of the PC site (you need to create a free account to access them). The direct link to to the casserole is here.

Then there was dessert, lots and lots of delicious dessert…

And I took it upon myself to make sure to try one of everything…

dessert

including the Candy Cane Chocolate Fudge Crackle Ice Cream (which is made in Truro, Nova Scotia for all the Loblaw stores!), Double Chocolate Cake , cookies, blossoms, mini cheesecake, oh my! It’s safe to say I was super stuffed by the time the eat fest was over.

During the party, we had a chance to hear from one of the PC Dieticians who talked a bit about the recent completion of removing all artificial colours and flavours from President’s Choice products. She talked about what they were using for colouring instead of artificial flavours (largely fruit and vegetable based colours). Knowing that they have taken the time to undertake such an endeavour makes me love PC even more. Food is colourful and flavourful enough without us having to add chemicals to it!

As we left we all got wonderful care packages filled with PC Goodies, and one of the Nova Scotia grown Poinsettias that they sell in their stores.

goodies

To say I felt both spoiled and very fortunate would be accurate. As always, I am thrilled to have a relationship with Loblaws/President’s Choice since I shop there every week and love their products.

Thank goodness this event was in NS this time so you could bring everything home in your car and not have to leave any delicious items behind!

Oh I would have checked a bag for all this goodness. But I suppose I would have had to eat the whole box of cupcake things as they would spoil otherwise. That would have been a pity 😉
