Gifts to Soothe Their Winter Skin

Next up in this week’s gift guide series is a brand that I was really excited to feature. Not only are they an amazing local company, but they make soap and skin care infused with NS Kelp which contains a bounty of ingredients that enriches and soothes the dry skin.

Today, we are talking about Nova Scotia Fisherman products! Located right here in the Annapolis Valley, I was really thrilled when they agreed to be part of my gift guide.

I’ve used and love their lotion and was really excited to try some of their other products!Looking for a Nova Scotia made natural product to give as a gift this year? Check out Nova Scotia Fisherman, your firends & family will love you for it!

And you can bet this lip balm addict was over the moon when they told me they were making a Candy Candy Lip Balm for the holidays that they would love for me to include.

Their lip balms are all infused with kelp as well, and if you watched my Intagram stories last week you’ll already know that I’m obsessed with it. I have a condition called peri-oral dermatitis, and sometimes get this sore red rash like thing around my mouth. Back in my teens as long as I stayed away from gel toothpaste and chlorine pools I was fine, but these last few years, more and more things seem to bring it on. Anyway, two weeks ago it came back and my usual tricks and products that take care of it didn’t help. I was getting pretty frustrated so decided to crack into one of the Candy Cane lip balms and instantly I could feel that my lips and the skin around them felt better.

I took to Instagram the next day to tell everyone how much it was helping. I only wish I had a “before” picture to show you how much this lip balm has helped but I don’t, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. This is the only thing I’ve used to treat my lips and the skin around it since and my skin is all back to normal.

Of course I’m sure this is true of all of their lip balms, so if you have someone on your list that deals with dry, chapped lips, or you know has really sensitive skin and skin problems I really urge you to pick one up for them.

The Candy Cane Lip Balm is currently sold out online (it went fast!) but keep an eye on their social media ccounts as they are hoping to get more made soon!

What really makes this lip balm extra great is it leaves your lips feeling moisturized for hours, instead of drying them out like many other balms do.

They also hooked me up with their new Rescue Balm Soap which takes all the best parts of their Rescue Balm and made this new soap soothes skin, acts as an anti-inflammatory, relieves itching and softens your skin. I’ve been using it for the past week and unlike most bar soaps my skin feels great after using it, not dry and tight like many others. And it smells so nice and clean – but with natural scents. I’m a little bit obsessed.

And finally, charcoal soaps are all the rage these days, so I was really intrigued to find out they now sell a located made charcoal soap with locally sourced charcoal from Cape Breton.

Using forest charcoal sourced from Cape Breton, this premium soap will extract dirt and grime from your skin. Charcoal is known to work well on acne prone skin and will gently exfoliate and clear up your skin. It’s scent of patchouli, lavender and sweet orange will leave you feeling clean and refreshed.
No artificial preservatives are added and all-natural scents are used.

And if you’re worried it’ll leave you covered in black charcoal – don’t be. While you can see a little bit of the charcoal on the facecloth, you really cannot see it on your skin unless you really scrub the bar directly on your skin. And I’m as pale as they come, so if you can’t see it on my white as a ghost skin, you’re going to be hard pressed to see it on normal skin tones. 😉

With so many people (like me) looking for more natural skin care products, you really can’t go wrong with a gift from Nova Scotia Fisherman. Their online store offers a great variety of products but for those people you can’t decide what you should give, may I suggest one of their Stem to Stern Packs
