Every year right around now my skin silently cries, and then gives in to the demands of living in Nova Scotia in the winter. What does that mean? It means that my sensitive skin dries out, starts flaking, gets really itchy and just plain uncomfortable. And I don’t mean a little scratch here and there, I mean full-on clawing of my arms and legs. The kind of clawing that leaves red marks on my legs so when I teach aqua fitness on Thursday afternoons in shorts I look like I’ve been attached by Edward Scissorhands. Except everyone knows I haven’t, because I’m still digging and scratching at my legs even while I teach. It’s bad.
When that time rolls around I always go on the search for a body lotion that will calm my angry skin, and this winter I’m planning to try Aveeno Skin Relief Fragrance Free Lotion. I am hoping that the Oat Complex and Shea Butter in the lotion will be just what I need to relieve my dry, itchy winter skin.
I love that Aveeno offers fragrance free products, and I can’t for the life of me figure out why I haven’t tried one of their body lotions before now. I always use their shampoo and conditioner and sometimes use their facial moisturizer but have never tried their body lotions.
When it comes to getting skin care advice and products, Shoppers Drug Mart has got you covered and has been my go-to store for years and years. They have a large selection of new skin care products to keep you and your whole family’s skin healthy this winter (plus you earn those beloved Shoppers Optimum Points on participating skin care products – and you know how much I love those points!!).
Did you know that the Beauty Experts at Shoppers Drug Mart also offers in-store complimentary skin care consultations using the beautyRx tool? The Skin Analysis consists of a Moisture Checker which measures your skin’s hydration levels, and a Video Microscope which magnifies your skin’s surface by 30 times to help diagnose your skin type. I had no idea they offered such a cool service!
Based on your readings, the Beauty Expert will recommend skin care products that will work best with your skin type and hydration level. Remember – this is all done in-store and is free! How amazing is that!? It’s been my experience that their Beauty Experts are really great. Anytime I’ve gone to them for advice, they’ve sold me a product they felt best suited my needs, and never has that product been one that broke the bank. I love that they know as much about their lower prices items as they do the higher end products.
