My feet go through a real beating day after day, week after week. Not only do I put them through their paces teaching Zumba which has left me with a permanent dancers callous on the side of my foot, but I also teach yoga, and run. All of which leave me with dry feet, blisters and peeling skin. It isn’t pretty.
Ironically I also hate the sight of feet, more specifically unkempt dry cracked feet. So as you can imagine I have a full foot ritual I go through each night to try to keep my feet in tip top shape. After all, not only do I need to keep them in good working order to be able to do my job, I’m also in a position where other people are seeing my feet on a daily basis and I don’t want them having to look at dry icky feet while I’m adjusting their triangle pose!
Prior to being contacted by them about doing a review on their product, I had never heard of Footlogix Medical® Intensive Care Moisturizing Cream, but was eager to give it a go. Despite my best efforts, as the seasons change I find it increasingly difficult to keep my feet well hydrated and looking their best. I continued using my regular foot cream right up until the Footlogix Medical® Intensive Care Moisturizing Mousse arrived, but I did stop using my pumice stone to remove dead skin because I wanted to give the mousse a little more work to do when it arrived!
The mousse arrived on a Friday, along with a pamphlet that outlined some of the benefits of Footlogix Medical® which include:
- healing of cracked and dry skin
- fragrance-free (a big plus in my book!)
- it increases skin elasticity
- it is lightweight and doesn’t leave a greasy residue or absorb into clothing/socks
I was especially interested in that last one. My usual cream certainly leaves a greasy residue and I know as soon as I put socks on that most of it is getting absorbed into the fabric and not my feet. But if I don’t put socks on and try to walk around I leave greasy footprints all over the house, it’s a catch-22 for sure!
That night I started using the mousse, and for the past 7 days that is all I have used on my feet. The pamphlet says if you have really dry/cracked feet you can use the product twice per day, but I have stuck with just once (at night) as I didn’t feel a second daily application was needed in my case.
The mousse is very lightweight, and not at all sticky or greasy feeling. It really does absorb into the skin quickly and I didn’t feel like I was walking around with a product on my feet, nor was I leaving greasy footprints everywhere I went. You can immediately see and feel the increase in elasticity when you apply the mousse and while it’s a lightweight moisturizer it doesn’t feel like a lightweight or thin moisturizer has been applied if you know what I mean. Because I had dry skin and peeling between my toes I concentrated my efforts there during application. In fact, the instructions tell you to make sure you get between and under your toes, which is something I previously hadn’t thought about when applying moisturizer to my feet.
If I’m being honest, while I enjoyed the product, and felt it moisturized well, I wasn’t really sure how much it was doing for my feet. That is until I took a set of photos after I’d been using it for 7 days:
When I first looked at the “after” shots I thought they were out of focus because you couldn’t really see any dry skin or callous. But then I realized the mat in the background was still in perfect focus and when I looked at my feet again I realized that there wasn’t any dry skin or rough callous on them for the camera to pick up! Don’t get me wrong, my dancer’s perma-callous is still there, but it’s much softer (and less noticeable to the naked eye) than it was. The dry and peeling skin between my toes? Gone. Any dryness on my heels is gone as well. And overall my feet feel smoother, softer and much more moisturized.
For reference, the after photos were taken in the afternoon, more than 12 hours after my last application. I don’t want you to think I put some moisturizer on and then took the photos!
So how does this magical mousse work? Well, it uses Dermal Infusion Technology® which delivers active ingredients deep into the layers of the skin directly into targeted areas and absorbs within seconds. Additionally, it delivers specialized treatments and solutions for Diabetic foot care problems by increasing blood circulation.
