imPress Manicure Review

Disclosure: I was provided with this product free of charge via Influenster in exchange for my honest review.

Ok, so this was going to be a video review, but when I uploaded the video to my computer, I realized that I – like a total dufus – recorded in portrait and not landscape. Sure I could have still uploaded it, but it drives me banana-grams when others record the wrong way so I couldn’t do it just for principle! With that in mind, I had to take still shots from the video so I apologize that they aren’t that clear (as I took screen shots instead of actually grabbing stills – #fail on me again!).

When I found out that I’d been chosen for the imPress Vox Box I wasn’t entirely sure what they were. I had pictured that they would be the sticker-type stick on nails ala Sally Hansen and Jamberry, so when they arrived and they really are the typical stick-on nail I wasn’t sure that I’d like them. imPress 1

In fact the night I put them on I was sure I was going to hate them. When I first put them on I could feel them, feel them sticking to the nail and I was concerned that feeling would last, but after a minute or less that feeling went away.Even though they sent me the short nails version, they were still too long for my liking when I put them on, so I got out my nail clippers and cut them just as you would your natural nail. It was super easy, and the manicure comes with a small nail file that I used to even them out.

Once I had them trimmed and filed, I was really happy with how they looked, but as hard as I am on manicures I wasn’t sure how long it was going to last. In fact, an hour later while getting ready for bed one of them fell off when fixing my bed ( fixing = I make my bed just before getting in it at night 😉 ). But you know what? Sure one fell off but it only took me about 45 seconds to replace, trim and file a new one and then I was back in business!

The following day I did lose another one when making squares (I didn’t lose them IN the squares, just during the process), but again I was able to quickly pop a new one back on.

On Friday – 3 full days later, my third nail fell off, and because I was getting ready to go to a conference on the weekend, I decided to take them off, but it was still looking pretty fab!

Now for my criticism. I will start off by saying that I’ve never had acrylic nails, so I’m not use to have “thick” nails, if you know what I mean. So I found it really difficult to pick things up, open cans of cat food, etc. with the nails on. My other criticism is that after a few days you start (or at least I did) to get these black adhesive “balls” under your nails, I guess as the adhesive holding the nail in place starts to wear off.

While I don’t think this is a product I would use on a regular/daily basis, I think it’s great especially for events (weddings, proms, etc.). Especially if you are like me and ruin your manicure within seconds! And if you do happen to lose a nail, go to a washroom and within seconds you’ll be able to replace it! Genius. So I will certainly be using these the next time I’m going to an event where I want to have a perfect looking manicure, that’s for sure!

I received the exact same nails from imPress to try through influenster. I agree that this is a product I would not use on a regular basis but for a special occasion they would be great, especially if you want to add a funky design for some added flare!

My hands and fingers aren’t working the greatest right now, so I struggled a little bit with the application and taking off the adhesive backing, but once it was off it they were easy to apply.

I tried once that were a little bit longer and I found they didn’t last as long. I caught one nail and it pulled a big but I guess it was enough for the glue to give and it fell off the net day.

Yes! Now that you mention it I found them hard to put on too, perhaps because I was stupid and put them on my thumbs first and then had a heck of a time peeling the backings off. I can see how the longer ones would fall off more quickly since there is more exposed surface area for them to get caught on things
