I’m fortunate enough not to have an allergy or intolerance for gluten, but I know so many people are, so when Kashi Canada contacted me about their new line of products that included gluten-free options as well as some Non-GMO Product Verified, and chia infused products and asked me if I would be interested in trying them out I immediately said, ” yes!” and a couple days later I received an awesome assortment of products:
And the package arrived right at lunch time so I dove right in!
Since then I’ve had the chance to try all of the products they sent (the granola bars are l-o-n-g gone!) and have been really enjoying them, these were my favourite:
Chocolate and sea salt? One of the best combos out there for sure!
From Kashi on why they introduced these new products:
As many Canadians consider the nutritional and environmental impact of the foods they eat, more and more are also mindfully choosing organic, Non-GMO Project Verified and gluten-free options than ever before. “As part of our commitment to progressive positive change and to meet the ever-evolving needs of our consumers, Kashi is also enhancing its range of Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified offerings,” said Carkner. “Consumers can easily spot participating Kashi cereal products on grocery store shelves by looking for the Certified Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified seals on the box.”
While not all of the products are non-GMO project verified yet, on their website they state:
Our commitment: By the end of 2015 over half our food will be Non-GMO Project Verified.* But we won’t stop there. We’ll continue to increase the use of organic and Non-GMO ingredients where possible while making sure to continue to provide the positive nutrition you expect from us.”
*based on pounds
Why 2015? There simply aren’t enough non-GMO and organic ingredients, and it takes time to partner with farmers to convert conventional farms. Once we obtain these ingredients, we need to make sure the nutrition and taste of the food is consistent with the high quality you expect from us.
The granola bars (which do have gluten in them) were the best in my opinion, and those dark chocolate, almond and sea salt granola bars will most certainly be making a return to my pantry! Soooooo good!! I’d definitely recommend picking them up no matter if you are gluten free or not, and if you are gluten-free I’d really urge you to give the new cereals a try too (the indigo morning cereal was my fav!)
Disclosure: Kashi Canada provided me with these products free of charge in exchange for my honest review. As always, all opinions are my own – I don’t talk about things I don’t like.
Now I just wish they could be soy free. It’s been near impossible for me to find healthy granola and cereal that are both gluten and soy free.
Oh my gosh I bet it is really difficult, allergies really suck!
