I am a serial snacker.
My classes are often just before or just after meal times and as a result I find it difficult to eat proper meals during the day – which means I’m either eating snacks all. day. long. or not eating enough. Either way, it’s a problem. Snacking is fab, but when I’m eating a banana all on it’s own and then teaching two classes, it’s no wonder I’m tired and hungry!
But I know I’m not alone! My friends at Vega One believe that a lot of us are serial snackers, or breakfast skippers (I could easily fall into that category too – yikes!), number crunchers, or weekend splurgers. Let’s face it, were not perfect – and it seems to daunting to try to be “perfect” that when we try to eat more healthfully it becomes overwhelming and 9 times out of 10 we give up. That is exactly why the smarties at Vega One have launched the #OneChange Campaign!
The reasoning behind the campaign from Vega One:
Why #OneChange? Based on our research, especially from women, here’s the Consumer Mindset that inspired us: “I know there are no quick fixes when it comes to managing my weight. I’ve tried loads of diets. Other things (work, relationships, and fitness) take priority. Nutrition is the first thing to go when life gets too busy. I wish it was easier.”
It’s so true. We are all well meaning, but unless we make nutrition a priority it can easily get thrown out the window when life gets crazy.
So how am I going to reform my less healthy snacking ways? My biggest downfall are the times I teach two classes back to back with no time for a meal in between them. Like I mentioned above I will sometimes eat a banana between classes, and more often than not I will eat nothing – no wonder I end up snacking like crazy later on! I’ve tried incorporating protein shakes in the past but have always hated the taste and texture of the protein powders I’ve tried. None of them mixed well with other liquids and I always felt like there was a super artificial taste to anything with protein powder in it. I was a little hesitant to try #VegaOne because I was afraid I would have the same feeling – but I was wrong! I’ve started making my version of a chocolate mocha smoothie to drink before those double header classes and it is already making a big difference in terms of energy and my food choices for the rest of the day!
Vega One has a huge library of amazing recipes on their website, but this smoothie is one I came up with myself and it is super easy to make!
- 1 package of Vega One (I used french vanilla, but I bet it would be even better with their chocolate flavour)
- about 1/2-3/4 cup of dark chocolate almond milk
- 1 bottle of latte Zico coconut water
- Mix in a blender until smooth. I like mine without ice, but you can add a handful of you like!
Vega One makes a great snacking choice because it contains:
- 50% daily intake of vitamins and minerals
- 15 g protein
- 6 g fibre
- 1.5 g Omega-3
- Antioxidants
- Probiotics
- Greens
Are you a serial snacker? Or one of the other personas? I’d love to have you join me in the #OneChange challenge to see how much #OneChange really can change your health!
Disclosure: I was provided with Vega One products free of charge in exchange for my post on the #OneChange campaign. However all thoughts opinions and tastes expressed are 100% my own!

serial snacker was my persona, too. it’s a serious habit.
Snacking is my favorite!!
I’m a N4mber Cruncher. I’ve seen the Vega product at my local health food store and tried it before. But I don’t think I really did it justice. I didn’t use it in a good smoothie recipe, I used some soy milk and a blender-jar like I used to do for SlimFast back when we still used animal-based foods in our house. That didn’t work all that well to mix it. You’ve inspired me to try again.
I can’t do any protein powder in a shaker bottle! It gets all globby and sad.
Definitely a serial/cereal snacker. Time to swap out the cereal for a serving of lite yogurt! I’m also a fan of kefir shakes, though that’s an expensive habit.
Buy yourself some kefir grains! You can make your own kefir and it’s super inexpensive that way! Although I managed to kill my grains because I forgot about them 🙁
I too am a serial snacker. I could get handfuls of stuff all day long! Totally love the idea of coconut water! Thanks for sharing!
