Last weekend when I ran the Valley Harvest 5K I wasn’t the only member of my family who go involved in the race weekend.
My 9 year old nephew Andrew participated in the kid’s run on Saturday. It was his first “race” and when I picked him up Saturday afternoon he announced, “I’m as nervous as crap.” lol.
We decided gainst putting him in his offical race tshirt, which was actually a good idea since it made it easier to pick him out of the crowd of about 60-80 7-9 year old boys.
Somehow, I got roped into running around the inside of the track along with him. Mostly because he wanted me to record his entire race.
Finished!
The kid went flat out the way, and finished in the top 10-15. Pretty awesome. Most importantly, he got some sweet hardware. That is always the most important thing, right?
Recording a race while running around the track carrying your iPhone isn’t the easiest task, but I did what I could. Here is a 1:40 video of the race.

I love that they put the kid’s names on their bib so people could cheer them on by name during the race. I heard a number of people cheering Andrew on which was pretty cool!
