Water is something that we, as North Americans, can easily take for granted. The ability to have clean, safe drinking water at our fingertips, while millions of other people around the world struggle and work hard each day to obtain the water they need to survive. Today, on #WorldWaterDay, I urge you to join me and Stand Up for Clean Water with Brita® Canada and We.org.
Brita® Canada is continuing their partnership with WE on a sustainable change initiative. WE is a movement that brings people together and gives them the tools to change the world. The campaign supports a borehole in Irkaat, Kenya that provides the community of more than 1,800 with access to clean water.
This month, they have launched a new Brita ME to WE statement bottle which along with other special marked products will provide a year’s supply of clean water to a person in Irkaat, Kenya.
Not only is this bottle helping you drastically change the life of someone in Kenya, with it’s built in replaceable water filter, it’s helping you enjoy tastier water too! While we are fortunate enough to have safe drinking water, sometimes it still doesn’t taste all that wonderful, especially if you are on town water that gets treated and has a Chlorine taste. I’ve been using my Me to We bottle all week and besides the filter (which has made Kentville water taste much, much better), it has my two favorite water bottle features – a straw and something I can use to clip it onto my bag so I don’t have to carry it. Not only that, but it’s nice to know that while I’m enjoying better tasting water, the lives of people in Kenya like Beatrice are being profoundly changed at the same time.

You guys. Those girls are basically walking the equivalent of a MARATHON EVERY DAY.
With a bottle of water strapped to their backs with rope.
Without the fancy shock absorbing sneakers we wear when we run.
Without any aid stations or water stations.
They can’t even drink the water they are carrying until it’s been boiled.
If that doesn’t humble you, I’m not sure what will.
When you purchase a ME to WE Brita product, you will find in with your purchase a “Track You Impact” code so you can go online at brita.ca/impact and track exactly where and how your purchase has made an impact which is pretty cool.

I’ll keep an eye out for those bottles. It’s a great cause!
It really is, and the water bottle is great quality!
Great post, Suzi! Water is such a precious resource and it still shocks some people to realize how many humans don’t have access (even in Canada). It’s heartbreaking!
Yes! This post may focus on those in Kenya, but it is definitely still an issue right here at home. So sad, and hard to even imagine what our lives may have been like if the dice had rolled a different way, you know?
I love this initiative! Do you know the retail price approximately? I’m in the market for one anyway so I’d like to grab one.
$19.99!
