Want to be more productive but have no idea how to start short of hiring an assistant? Today I want to share how tracking my work time is helping me to get more done & in less time!
I’ve been using the program Harvest and am only using their free plan as I don’t need the paid features.
To keep it super simple, I set up two projects “Fitness” and “Office Work” under each project I set up all my general tasks. So under fitness, I have things like all the types of classes I teach, program and class development, etc. Then in office work, I have everything else – email, social media scheduling, writing, accounting, video, photography, etc.
Whenever I start a task I start a timer in Harvest to record how long I spend on that task and so on. I’ll admit, I’m not perfect about recording. There are an embarrassing amount of “misc” entries due to me not wanting to start and stop the timer when I’m doing a bunch of 2-3 minute jobs all at once, and sometimes I have to guess after the fact how long I spent on something, but overall I’ve found it to be so helpful!
While you aren’t all freelancers or self-employed folks but I think there is something to be said for everyone trying to implement a bit more productivity in their day. I really find this is helping me stay on on task a bit better than I do on my own, and it gives me peace of mind at the end of the day knowing that I can easily see how long I worked and what I worked on.
Take time to watch the video and find out all the ways it is helping me!
