2017: A Year In Review

Here I sit, writing the last post of 2017 preparing to look back on the past 12 months. I write this post for myself more than anyone else as it allows me to take a few minutes to look back and compile all the really cool things I’ve had the opportunity to do, things that could easily get forgotten should I not decide to take this trip down memory lane. So let’s get to it!

  1. I got snowshoes! Something I’ve wanted for years but never got around to buying. Thanks to Sport Chek I’m outfitted with snowshoes and all the gear to keep me warm while I’m out!

2. Hiking With Friends

Giving up running left me with a lot more free time to do fun things like hiking with my husband and friends. We managed to get out and see so many sights this year!!

3. I met Tracy Moore from Cityline & was on TV

I was invited to take part in the local #EatTogether taping with President’s Choice and Cityline! Not only did I get to meet (and sit next to) Tracy Moore, you can also watch me getting way too excited about applesauce in this spot that aired on TV (watch for some classic Suzi eye rolling around the 30-second mark).

4. I finally got to explore Medford Beach!

Going to see the Medford Beach sand formations is something I’ve wanted to do for years but getting there is a bit tricky. But I finally made it there – and on the perfect summer day! It was perfect.

FYI – getting up in there ^^^ was a whole lot easier than getting back down…

5. I spent a (chilly) morning helping Halifax “Wake Up To Yellow” with the egg farmers of Canada

And Kayla and I interviewed an Egg Farmer (Peter Clarke who doesn’t live far from me!) and made it into another video (that’s me talking at 0:42)

6. My husband and I ran a 5k together!

I came out of retirement long enough to kick off my vacation by running a local 5K with my husband. FYI – It was awful, haha. My running days are long gone, but it was fun to do one together!

7. Waterfalls. My new favourite thing!

8. I FINALLY WENT TUBING!!!

Lifelong dream accomplished! And it was so fun!!!

9. I took a freaking LIMO to a spin class!

How cool is that? Sport Chek definitely made us feel pretty darn special

10. I went Kayaking for the first time!

11. I GOT MY OWN SUP!!!

This was such a big dream come true! And even though it was the end of the summer when it arrived, we still had a few chances to get out and have fun and one day we had our own personal air show!

12. Professional Certifications

I completed the training to become a Barre Intensity Instructor

Finished my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training

And completed the Eat to Perform Nutrition Certification.

13. I presented at BlogJam 2017

And I didn’t even die. Haha, it was my first time presenting and something I’d wanted to do for a while so I’m glad I gathered enough courage to do it!

And Kim, Kayla and I also took what is pretty much the most amazing photo that day!

14. Matching Unicorn Kitty Christmas Sweaters

There was no way the triplet sweaters was going to be omitted from this list, haha.

Please also note that Kayla has a halo in this photo, hahaha.

15. Kitten Sisters

I realize we got them in 2016, but these two girls continue to bring us so much joy.

So I feel like ending this post with the video I made for their birthday is fitting

All in all it was a pretty great year. Don’t get me wrong, there were lots of less than awesome moments, but what’s the point in dwelling on those?

I hope you have hada chance this week to look back at your year and find the high points, and I hope you have an even better year in 2018!!

Cool pics. I’m a big fan of snowshoeing. My friends thought it’s boring but once they try it get hooked, nothing like seeing nice scenery in the winter and being able to walk on top of the snow…

I totally agree. It’s quite magical!
