Quick Noodle Bowl

I think all of us born in the 80’s remember growing up with the delights of Mr. Noodles. Those $0.33 noodle packs they kept us fed in the summers and in our first years in college and/or living on our own. Because I can’t bring myself to consume those pre-made sodium bombs any longer, I now enjoy making my own quick noodle bowl (aka homemade Mr. Noodles) at home.

A few reasons I like this recipe:

  1. It’s a one-pot dish if you’re making it vegetarian
  2. It reminds me of my childhood
  3. IT IS SO FAST
  4. It’s tasty

This is one of my go-to recipes when I want a really quick but filling meal. Because the noodles cook in just a few minutes you can go from pot to bowl in mere minutes. I like to throw my veggies right in with the noodles and cook everything at once. Why dirty more pots when you don’t need to?

Quick Noodle Bowl

The recipe is almost a non-recipe.

Boil water.

Throw in a brick or two of instant noodles.

Throw in your veggies.

Cook.

Drain.

Mix in the sauce of your choice (I like using Asian sesame salad dressing).

Enjoy!

If I happen to be in the market for some additional protein, I’ll cook a pork chop, chicken (tofu would work well too!) and top the bowl with the protein, and if I’m feeling really fancy I’ll top with sesame seeds.

Then I gobble it up.

Delightful!
