I feel like a bit of a weirdo calling everything “_______ Dance Fitness” but a girl’s gotta comply with her license agreement, so dance fitness it is, and that makes this week aqua dance fitness week!
Before we get into today’s video I want to make a disclaimer. I don’t actually teach Aqua Zumba the way it was taught. I didn’t really like the way the moves translated in the water, and as a certified aqua fitness leader I felt it wasn’t challenging enough. Now I’ve been licensed for a number of years (3 or 4?) so things may have changed since then, I’m not sure. The long and short of it is, I follow the Zumba formula when creating routines, add a little “Zumba” in here and there but use largely traditional aqua fitness moves instead of those taught in the Aqua Zumba training.
This song, for example uses a basic pendulum, rocking horse, a run, and a pendulum variation (side kicks) and a rocking horse variation (front and back kicks). Even if you stick to the traditional Aqua Zumba format, your participants might enjoy this routine as it is really easy to follow and gets your heart pumping!
