Happy New Year!!! Did you all have a fun New Year’s Eve? Like the total party animal I am I spent the evening cleaning my baking cabinet, cleaning out our pellet stove, oh and we did squeeze a movie in there too. Party animals! 😉
I spent a good part of my afternoon putting Christmas away (tear). It always makes me sad to put my tree away, but now that it’s down I’m glad. It really is a lot of work (especially when you’re an ornament nut job like me) and it is nice to have things put back to normal.
After looking back at my 2014 goals yesterday, I’ve spent some time trying to decide on my goals for 2015. This isn’t a full list because a number of goals aren’t interesting enough to write about (like getting my black Coach bag fixed). Consider these the highlights!
1) Photography. This goal was an easy one to decide – learning to use my new DSLR!

Yesterday when it arrived was the first time I’ve ever so much as held a DSLR so there is quite a learning curve to overcome. But I’m pretty darn excited to learn!
My mini goal is to feel comfortable using it for taking photos and video by the end of January, but to be proficient in using it in manual (eek!) mode by the end of the year. I’m extra excited because this has been on my dream list since 2010 so it’s pretty incredible to finally have one!
2) 2015 goodreads Reading Challenge. Last night I was tweeting with Laura as she was tallying up her book total for 2014 on goodreads. This is something I always want/mean to do but also always forget to do. So another goal for 2015 is to remember to enter the books I read in goodreads! I joined the 2015 Reading Challenge with the goal of reading 24 books in 2015. Since I never track how many books I read I’m not sure if that is a high or low goal for me. I’m a fast reader, but have the entire 5-book Game of Thrones series to get through (and those are l-o-n-g books!) so I figured 24 was a good round number. 2 books/month. I can handle that! Can I remember to enter them into goodreads? That remains to be seen.
3) Creative writing. It’s my dream to write, and while I adore my blog, it’s fiction I adore writing. Because it seems like the easiest way to track, my creative writing goal for 2015 will be based on word count. That count can come from as many different fictional stories/scenes/novellas/dialogues that I write and my goal for the year is 50,000 words. That works out to be an average of just over 950 words/week. The real test is, will I actually allow anyone to read what I write? Who knows. You may have to take my word for it.
4) Yoga Training. Take my level 3 YogaFit Training, YogFit Kids, and maybe one other. I would really like to take the YogaFit Indo Balance Board Training next September but the board is so darn expensive. Who knows, maybe I’ll be rich by then. 😉
5) Build my TeamSpark Online Fitness and Wellness Club. It just officially launched today (squeeze!!) but I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me to get it where I want it as far as offerings go. For my goal I would love to end the year with 50 people enrolled in the online club. And above all I would love the club to be thriving and really helping people. <— That outweighs the membership goal 10 times over!
6) Races. This year I’d like to run at least 2 half marathons, and at least 3 races I haven’t run before. When I say races I mean races, not race distances (.i.e. I always run the Valley Harvest 5k. Running the 10k instead does not count as a new race, just a different route). I’m undecided as to which ones I’ll run but am planning on the Bluenose, Valley Harvest and Sparky 5K. The rest I’ll decide on as I go!
Those are the big 6 for the year!
Question:
Are you a yearly goal setter, or a “go with the flow” type of person? I’d love to hear what your goals for 2015 are if you’ve set any!
