Don’t Sweat It. Handle It!

If you’ve been around here for a while it will come as no surprise that I tend to get a little sweaty from time to time…

And by “time to time” I mean 6 days/week sometimes twice a day.

So when I had the opportunity to work on a campaign for Lady Speed Stick it was a total no brainer!

For the past week I’ve been using the Lady Speed Stick Power Cool Breeze Antiperspirant

12COL5077 LSS Power 45g CoolBreeze_HR
and the Lady Speed Stick Power Fresh Fusion Gel Antiperspirant

12COL5077 LSS Power 65g Gel Fresh Fusion_HR
in place of my regular antiperspirant to see how it handles my brand of sweaty business!

Product Benefits:

  •  Long lasting superior protection†
  • Tough invisible 24 hour protection
  • Available in 4 different fragrances to keep you feeling fresh from morning to night

† vs. 20% required sweat reduction effectiveness

When I recieved the products I immediately gravitated to the solid  at first as I haven’t used a gel antiperspirant since the unfortunate book bag accident in grade 9 (I had a gel deodorant in my book bag, the cap fell off, the entire contents of my book bag were then covered in gel deodorant.  It was a bad scene.).

Anytime I try a new deodorant/antiperspirant (even just a new scent) it takes me a few days to get used to it.  The first day the scent always seems overpowering and it was no different with the Cool Breeze stick.  The first day I felt it was wwwaaayyy too strong smelling, but by the second day I hardly noticed it at all.  Interestingly, when I did start using the gel I didn’t notice that I needed a day to adjust to the new scent.  I’m not sure if that’s because the scent is lighter, or because my sniffer was already becoming accustomed to a different scent.

As for the products themselves, I find them both to be pretty effective.  I still end up a sweaty mess at the end of a class, but you have to remember an antiperspirant only protects the area you put it on and I’m certainly not putting it on all my sweat glands!

I try to remember to apply antiperspirants at night before bed because they say they are more effective if you do that as they have the whole night to build up a barrier.  I particularly like the gel at night because I am usually wearing a sleeveless shirt to bed so I don’t have to worry about getting the gel on my shirt.  That is really the only downside of the gel in my opinion, you need to apply it before putting your shirt on otherwise you (or at least I) will end up with the gel on your shirt.

However, while I haven’t done any scientific studies to back this up, I think that for me the gel actually works better than the solid so I’ll certainly be continuing to use it at night and the solid during the day (remember, multiple classes means more than one application each day pour moi!) since I find that combo works best for me.

You’ve probably all seen the Lady Speed Stick “Don’t Sweat It.  Handle It!” Commercials on TV.  They are all of these super awkward situations and in the commercials the main character finds a way to “handle it.”   I love them, this one cracks me up every. single. time.

And this is so something that would happen to me:

Seriously people, my life is made up of these “Don’t Sweat It. Handle It!” moments!  So much so that I may have made my own version of one of their commercials.  Prepare yourself for the cheese factor…

I told you it was cheesy! 😉

And here’s a bit of irony for you – I was so worried I would forget one of the two shirts (yes I had a shirt double 😉 ) or the camera the night we were recording this that I actually forgot to put deodorant on.  Ironic indeed.

P.S.  For those of you who aren’t aware, Zumba instructors are famous for “deconstructing” (otherwise known as cutting up their clothes) their tops – which might help make the “commercial” make more sense if it wasn’t really clear what happened 😉

And this may not be a commercial but Sunday morning I ran the Blue Nose Marathon 10K while wearing my Lady Speed Stick

racedeo

excuse the goofly look on my face!

Why is this a “Handle It!” moment?  Because I didn’t train for the race at all :/  Due to health problems I only managed to get in two runs so far this year and still went out and managed to represent with a sweet 1:05:58 finish.  Was the Lady Speed Stick my secret weapon?  I guess we’ll never know 😉

      Lol thanks!

We all start somewhere, and participating in a 5K is an accomplishment many people will never complete (walking or running) so kudos to you for going for it!

You should check out the virtual 5k walk/runs I’m hosting over the summer, might be a good way to help keep you pushing towards your goal without the pressure of a regular 5K that you have to complete on a certain day/time. 🙂 https://confessionsofafitnessinstructor.com/2013/05/sizzlin-summer-virtual-5k-walk-or-run/

OMG I loved the custom ad! Lady Speed Stick should SO adopt it! You even have the ad voice down pat! WRT your “accident” in high school … see…if it were Lady Speed Stick, you’d just take some and put it on….and not sweat it…cause you’d be handling it..uh huh…see what I did there? (You’ve not the only cheesy one).

I absolutely love the gel one! Yes, you have to let it dry, but it glides on so smoothly! You sure did put these to the test!

WTG on the 10k! If anything, that should definitely test the strength of your deodorant, lol!

You made your own video? That is fantastic!! I love it! As for Zumba instructors … you ladies are a breed of your own. My girlfriend is a Zumba instructor too and she is hilarious with her outfits! 🙂
